Art City 5k...a "renewed" family tradition
For many years, we ran/walked the Art City 5k as a family. We have missed out the last several years (girls camp, forgetful, etc). On a whim, I signed us up this year in hopes of incorporating some physical activity into our summer. Unfortunately, Jacob had a camp-out so we ran without him.

Meghan and Xela
Jordan and Kyle-reminiscent of 70's head phones...
Meghan and Kaylie
The only race that I know of that hands
out tons of prizes....
we anxiously await our number!
 It payed off...literally.
Jacob's number was called...$100 and a soccer ball.
Jordan graciously accepted it for him.
Then, my number was called... $25 and a tool kit.
Finally, Kaylie's number was called...a candle-warmer and $50!

I am sure we will pick up this tradition again, hopefully the odds will forever be in our favor. It was a fun morning!

Ready to take on the adventures that lay ahead.

Tackling the balance beam and the moving vines...
a scout must constantly balance school, family, hobbies and faith, choosing wisely how to spend his time and not allowing himself to be distracted by unworthy things.

Swing across the bottomless pit...
living the standards of the scout law, standards like being Honest, Helpful and Obedient, helps you avoid many of the pitfalls of life.

After running from a large "boulder" and avoiding the flying "poisonous" q-tips is a prize worth any sacrifice...
there is great value in setting goals and working towards the prize of becoming an Eagle Scout.

Congratulations, Jacob!

"I built my talents on the shoulders of someone else's talents."
Michael Jordan

May 21, 2014-Tonight, Skyler opened his mission call. He will be serving in the Washington Federal Way Mission and will enter the MTC on July 23, 2014.

Skyler has been a friend to Jordan since they were in diapers. They have shared a love of basketball and football, they have devised many money-making schemes over the years, they have spent countless hours studying together, they participated in DECA together, served in several quorum presidencies together, built-tore down-and built again several forts, etc... The list goes on! Skyler has been a great example to Jordan and has inspired him to do better and be better. Wouldn't it be awesome if they served the Lord together? We'll have to wait and see....

Kevin, Skyler, Andy, Aaron, Jordan, Austin, Kyle, and Damon

Kale Smith came to support Skyler. We all moved into our neighborhood at the same time. They have since left but continue to be great friends. Kale will enter the MTC the same day as Skyler. He will be serving in Korea.

Love these ladies! Thanks for your friendship...
 Sunday, May 17-Seminary Graduation
I appreciate the programs of the church which supplement the teaching that is done in the home, seminary being one of my favorite.  Seminary in Utah is a part of the school day. I have seen Jordan's testimony and understanding of the gospel grow as he has faithfully attended and participated in his seminary classes. His contributions to our scripture study and family nights reflect this growth. Meghan, Jordan, and Kyle have all had incredible teachers that inspire them to want to be better. They have opened their eyes in ways I have not been able to do. Thanks to all those who dedicate their life to teaching the gospel!

I'm at a loss for words....
These girls will miss Jordan's persistent taunting and teasing!
