Spring Break...
We decided to head to Capitol Reef and Goblin Valley this year for Spring Break. We have camped in Capitol Reef several times before, but the idea of setting up by myself for one night was a little too daunting. I convinced the kids that staying in a hotel would not diminish the fun we would have together and they begrudgingly conceded.

As we turned the corner from Torrey and headed down into Capitol Reef, I was once again in awe at the great majesty of the red rock cliffs and other land formations. I couldn't take enough pictures. Unfortunately, they don't do the scenery justice.  Nonetheless, I continued "clicking".

We had enough time for one trail. We hiked to Hickman's Bridge. It was a mile in and a mile out, not too bad for an ol' lady like me. In addition, you couldn't have asked for better weather!  (I will have to admit, that I honestly missed the camping part. We may have to go back this summer.)

We ended the day with several hours in the pool.  Swimming was definitely a worthwhile trade-off for a campfire.

Interpret as you wish, but this was a little disconcerting to me.

Goblin Valley

Wednesday morning, we headed to Goblin Valley. We have many fond memories from here.  However, this time the kids were old enough to get the most out of it without my supervision. Kyle and Elijah were greatly disappointed that they were not allowed to walk across Hickman's Bridge, so they were determined to reach each and every high point at Goblin Valley, which they did without much effort.

Kyle's "mad" photography skills...

All in all, this was a very enjoyable and memorable Spring Break. I recognize all too unwillingly, that these moments are passing by way too quickly. I love my family and treasure this time together.
